Sustainable Picks For New Moms This Mother's Day

Sustainable Picks For New Moms This Mother's Day

I may know next to nothing about parenting, but I do know that new moms deserve all of the credit that comes their way. I see a lot of new moms at the church I go to, filling the rows with bright smiles and tired eyes, so I get little glimpses into what it looks like to take on this role. Needless to say, it's a lot. It's exhausting yet rewarding. From late nights to endless crying, you have to be prepared for a full time job. There are no breaks, and if there are, they're very far and few between. This Mother's Day, I wanted to highlight the women who have only recently earned the title. They’re carrying a lot on their plate. I don't know how they do it, and I bet you don't know how they do it, either.

New moms are like superheroes, taking on the whole world in the form of one tiny human being. They don't just deserve the credit, they deserve some self-care this Mother's Day, too. That’s probably the best way you can show up for her right now. Time alone is a precious commodity she’s probably dying for. For more tips and tricks, check out How To Create A Cozy And Sustainable Self-Care Night For Busy Moms. I know that might be difficult to pull off, but she does deserve it. If you can squeeze in some time, here are five ways you can gift her some self-care on this special holiday.

Read a Book

Mothers hardly get any alone time, like I mentioned, so getting back to this time-honored pastime is a nice way to sit back and take a moment to enjoy oneself. Buy her one of her favorite books or something new you think she’ll enjoy. Most people like to read, and I think she'll appreciate it.

Meditate

It’s important to take the time to just breathe. Motherhood is stressful, and she could use a break to meditate. Take the kid(s) out on a play date and allow her the space to get into some deep meditation. She can download an app or go on YouTube, lighting a candle to set the mood.

Take a Bath

A bath, with all of the necessary pieces, is one of the best ways to relax. Again, you can take the kid(s) out on an adventure so she can have some time to herself. Bath bombs are a nice way to set the mood, along with a candle. She can combine this with reading or meditation or anything her heart desires.

Create

If the mother in your life is creative, one way to prioritize self-care is to create. That can encompass a lot of things, from writing to painting. Whatever her artistic expression of choice may be, it tends to get put on the back burner once kids get thrown into the mix. But creating allows us to express ourselves in ways only art can. So this Mother’s Day, encourage her to prioritize creating for a day.

Pamper Herself

There are a variety of ways for the new mom in your life to pamper herself, some of which we’ve listed down below. Skincare is a big one. We even have bath and body sets so she can relax in the tub before she cares for herself.

Ask Her How She Wants To Take Care of Herself

If all else fails, if you’re not sure how to give her the self-care that she needs, it’s not crazy to simply ask her. After all, she knows best. She knows how she can step into self-care the right way.
