Countdown to Earth Day

Countdown to Earth Day

Earth Day 2024 is coming up on April 22nd, and we’re already preparing to celebrate. As a sustainable and eco-friendly business, Verte Mode seeks to provide better alternatives to what society currently offers. That's why Earth Day means so much to us. It’s all about building a more sustainable lifestyle. This holiday was originally founded 54 years ago; and for 54 years, people across the globe have been putting the Earth first. Did you know that 20 million people participated in the original Earth Day? Talk about a big impact; and that impact continues Earthwide. This holiday matters because we need to take care of the Earth better than we already do. From landfills to trash in the oceans, we haven't been doing the best job at taking care of it. We've slacked off and it's time to make a difference. There are a variety of ways you can enjoy the festivities, but here are a handful of them which you can spend the next few weeks getting ready for.

Make an Earth Day Pledge

What is an Earth day pledge, you may ask? An Earth Day pledge is a commitment to making the Earth a better place. You can sign up on the official Earth Day website with their pre-made options or you can make your own. It's also a great way to get kids involved, as it teaches them ways they can treat the Earth better on their own. This can include something like reducing your plastic consumption or kick-starting a zero-waste lifestyle. You can also give a sustainable lifestyle a try. An Earth Day pledge is a year round commitment, so it's not just for the day. This option is a special one because we need that year round effort.

Learn How to Compost

Composting is a really simple way to help out the planet. It keeps food scraps out of landfills and enriches the soil. Food scraps and leftovers are one of the biggest forms of waste, so we have the option to make a difference in a way that can actually be impactful. It’s the perfect way to start a garden.

Go On a Nature Walk

This is one you could probably do in combination with another of these suggestions, seeing as they are more proactive in helping the environment. But it's the perfect way to get in touch with nature for a little while and appreciate what was given to us. Be sure to be respectful to the world around you, making sure not to disturb the local plants and animals. So, don’t do things such as picking the wildlife up (which I saw someone do recently) or walking off the paths. Getting in touch with nature is super calming, so it benefits you, as well.

Clean up Litter

Another great way to get out in nature is to clean up litter. It’s the dirty work that matters the most. There’s a lot of places you can go to clean up, such as along beaches or in parks. It's a great way to get outside and go for a walk while also making a difference. Wear some gloves, bring along a reusable trash bag, and you're set to go.

Donate

Not able to get out? You can always donate to a good cause. There's a lot of places you can donate to. Have a look around on Google and you're bound to find something that is worthy of your contribution.

We’ll be counting down the weeks with more Earth Day content, so stay tuned!
